Jacksonville Trolley Holiday Lights Tour
Life is all about making memories and we finally checked taking a ride on the Jacksonville Trolley Holiday Lights Tour of our bucket list! If you think the historic town of Jacksonville is charming on a normal day, then you have to see it all dressed up for the holidays—it’s pure magic.
We parked at the Jacksonville library and then checked in at the Jacksonville Visitors Center where we showed our digital tickets. We arrived a little earlier than the fifteen minutes than they requested so that we could get a cup of hot cocoa from the cute little beverage truck that was parked there. Mix and Mingle had all of the fixins’ for our hot cocoa including whipped cream and peppermint sprinkles. We were able to take it on the trolley to warm our hands as we took our light tour.
They took us through the neighborhoods close to town giving us the history of many of the houses and historic buildings along the route. The atmosphere was festive in the trolley with holiday music playing and to see how excited the little kids got, well that was just the icing on the cake.
Surprisingly, the trolley wasn’t very cold. It is fully enclosed and the warm bodies generated enough heat, but just in case, you may want to bring a blanket to snuggle up in. We dressed ready for winter and I had to take off my coat because I actually got a little warm.
The tour was approximately 45 minutes taking us through all of the nook and cranny neighborhoods tucked all around Jacksonville. Many newer neighborhoods showed off historic replicas of Victorian houses.
If you want to go seating is limited but make sure to check every date individually as you never know what you may find. They have two trolleys that seat 20 and 30, and a ten person sprinter van.
The holiday lights trolley tours go through the end of December starting at 530pm going every 30 minutes with the last tour at 8pm. You can get tickets here.
Pro-tip: while they do provide squeegees to use on the windows, a micro-fiber cloth worked much better because it absorbed the moisture. So bring one if you have one.
