HIKING THE LITTLE APPLEGATE / SISKIYOU VIEWPOINT TRAIL

We hit the trail last week to check out the new Little Applegate / Siskiyou Viewpoint Trail found in the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail System!
It was a gorgeous morning with lots of sunshine and crisp cool air making for a perfect day. Siskiyou Upland Trails Association (SUTA) just cleared the way for a nice little trek that starts at the Wolf Gap Trailhead and takes you about a mile out to stunning 360 views of Little Applegate canyon and the snow peaked mountains of the Sisikiyou Crest. It's a moderate hike while being a bit a rustic since it has been newly created so be aware of sticks and rocks along the way.
Be forewarned, the drive out to the trail is not for the faint of heart, with a steep drop off in some places and the road can get pretty muddy and icy in spots.
If you want to go
I put Deming Gulch Road into my GPS and got there. The roads are well marked as well as great signage for the trailheads. Starting at the Wolf Gap Trailhead you will head out and take a left when you hit the fork in the trail. There is a sign so you shouldn't have a problem finding it. Directions can also be found here.

The Little Applegate was originally settled about 11000 years ago by the Latgawa, Shasta, and Dakubetede, Native American tribes. They helped create a biodiverse watershed through managing the lands and growing crops until settlers mined the land, devastating the landscape.
Today, the Confederated Tribes of Grande Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians are living descendants. Thank you to these stewards of our land.
