Since 1976, the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival, has been an industry leader in the celebration of Mountain Culture. We promote understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountain places by creating opportunities for people to share and find inspiration in mountain experiences, ideas, and visions. The Festival showcases a selection of outstanding adventure, mountain sports and culture, speakers, films, books, and photographs from around the world during a nine-day period each autumn in Banff, Canada.
Following the Festival in Banff, a selection of films go on tour around the world. Our annual World Tour reaches over half a million people through screenings in approximately 50 countries on all 7 continents, making us the largest adventure film tour on the planet. Many World Tour screenings benefit local outdoor programs, community causes, or nonprofit organizations. Some of the causes supported by the tour include bursaries for outdoor pursuits, adventure programs for children, search and rescue operations, climbing clubs, youth ski programs, and trail maintenance groups.
