WALKER Lyric for Strings
BACH Concerto for violin and oboe, BWV 1060R
MOZART Requiem

Mozart’s beloved Requiem was left unfinished at the time of his death, leaving many questions unanswered about the true intention of the work. Composers old and new have tried their hand at completing it, though what Mozart had in mind will never be known. This dramatic work is paired with George Walker’s Lyric for Strings, dedicated in memory of the composer’s grandmother who passed away during its composition. The timeless music of Bach and his double concerto for violin and oboe will feature our concertmaster, Terrie Baune, and our principal oboe, Susie Lundberg. This concert reflects the human condition of life and death, birth and rebirth, and ultimately, the hope of resurrection.

Ian Bagg-Comedy

Most comedians have a monologue; Ian Bagg has a dialogue. Each time Bagg performs he creates a hilarious, one-of-a-kind show as he banters with the audience. “I basically write a show while the show is happening,” says Bagg.

Bagg’s fast-paced, off-the-cuff, quick-witted and animated style has earned him critical acclaim and a loyal international fan base. He was a finalist on the ninth season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and has been a regular on Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club show in Las Vegas. He also starred in his own specials on Comedy Central, HBO and Showtime and appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Make Me Laugh, and Showcase Comics with Louie Anderson.

The Infamous Stringdusters

The Infamous Stringdusters balance traditional bluegrass with their tributes to Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs with high energy indie Jamgrass. Their bluegrass covers of some of modern rock’s classic hits will amaze you.

Nashville-based acoustic group the Infamous Stringdusters balance a fluency in old-timey bluegrass and indie jamgrass sensibilities with an emphasis on strong instrumental work plus a sound that’s both organic and groove friendly. The band earned a stellar reputation among bluegrass fans right out of the box, earning three International Bluegrass Music Association awards after the release of their 2007 debut album, Fork in the Road, and they began exploring a more ambitious musical approach with 2010’s Things That Fly that won them favor with the acoustic jam band community. The Stringdusters’ genre-spanning approach got a workout on 2016’s Ladies & Gentlemen, in which they collaborated with 11 different female guest musicians. Following their Grammy-nominated 2021 EP, A Tribute to Bill Monroe, they took a clear-eyed look at social and political issues on their 2022 effort Toward the Fray. They again highlighted one of their influences with 2023’s A Tribute to Flatt & Scruggs.
