HIKING OREGON - THE ENCHANTING LIMPY CREEK BOTANICAL TRAIL
If you are looking for a fun, easy hike then you must go to Limpy Creek Botanical Trail!
When we got out of our car we were surrounded by lush green forest, which is always a good sign, and it just got better from there. The trail is one mile long and loops around so you can choose to start to the left or right. We chose the left which took us over a bridge and up the side of a hill. With the rain there was a lot of seasonal flow on the trail that we had to tiptoe around, adding to the fun. Not too far into the hike we got into the trees and Olivia immediately saw faeries everywhere (that’s always a good sign) pointing out their hollows along the way. We explored every nook and cranny, and when we eventually got to the creek, we were charmed with how enchanting the emerald green made everything. Next time we go we will definitely take a picnic to dine by the creek so we can spend a little time relaxing and to enjoy the sound of the waters. By the creek there were a couple of bridges that we crossed to adventure around; one led to a bench and a dead end trail, the other led up the side of the hill and to a small waterfall, and then around to a magnificent view.
The whole trail had interpretive signs that we stopped and had Olivia read to us, we always always appreciate that because we learn so much about the native plants and species that grow in the area. We appreciated all of the foot bridges that were around to protect the plants and organisms that grow in the area. We realized that we definitely have to go back in the spring and summer so that we can see the flowers blooming and with all of the fallen leaves I can only imagine that it’s gorgeous in the fall as well.
If you want to go, it is only a twenty minute drive from Grants Pass and an hour drive from Medford. You will want to definitely take the kids on this one! See our full gallery of pictures from this hike HERE and see more hiking stories on our Southern Oregon Hikes page HERE.
As always, please take care when you are out exploring our trails and stay on trail as well as Leave No Trace and take all trash with you that you bring in. That includes not throwing orange and banana peels, or apple cores, and picking up your toilet paper when relieving yourself in the woods.. To see more about Leave No Trace head to their website HERE.
